Freedom of speech and religion was one of the reasons our ancestors left Britain. They haven't improved much. Well, they did improve I think, and then the liberals took over. They are on a downward spiral, as is the rest of Europe, because they all practice identity politics. Obama is just a copycat. That is exactly why he started his campaign in Europe, and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for doing nothing but demonstrating how liberal he was, just like them. That is why Republicans warned of "European Socialism" and were laughed at for attributing this to Obama. My people originated from the Culloden area. When Lizzy finally got tired of Mary and had her beheaded, she gave all those who supported her militarily a choice. Go the way of Mary, or GTFO. My forebears landed on the east coast of North America and began a slow migration westward over the generations. We finally decided to just stick around west-central Indiana for a few generations.

I'm not a religious person so I don't really care if he's an atheist, but I also think he's a liar for pretending to be a Christian to make himself more electable.

Having a Muslim dad and step dad. I don't think either really practiced but they certainly would have a more Muslim than Christian perspective.

But as I said, I don't think Obama is a Muslim. But perhaps because of his background, I think he sympathizes with Muslims more than Christians. I think he's an atheist who pretended to be a Christian to be accepted as a community organizer, and then to make himself seem more electable. His actions seem consistent with that.

I came here looking for help and information that would help me push for legislation to enable private citizens the right to own and carry firearms to defend themselves, their loved ones and their property from criminals. I have always believed in the right of an individual to defend himself and that they have the freedom to choose which sports and activities they wish to participate in. The government has shown time and time again that it is incapable of protecting it's people. It's up to us to protect ourselves and allow the government to deal with the outcome.

I got a lot of help from the awesome members on here and i already have a plan of action for the political activity lined out the problem however is that I lack the funding to put it into action and i lack time. I'm quitting my job at the end of the month though so that I have more free time.

Sure the imperialism and whatnot was wrong, i've never liked, promoted or agreed with it but let's make a wee point here. UK frankly in real terms means England. England wanted to invade and occupy and take, scotland was simply forced into service.

Also another thing to take note of is the fact that yes while the UK did run the worlds largest Empire and colonize more places than anyone else no one can say that they made the places they went worse. Everywhere they went, they improved the place.

Mark you need to study your English history a bit more. I heard on the radio today that our Founding Fathers didn't get their ideas about personal freedom out of thin air. There was a document before the Magna Carta that outlined human rights, if I remember what I heard this morning correctly. You folks haven't had a history of individual rights since you were conquered. If you're going to make a case for individual rights, you're going to need to make it from the Englishers' point of view, by pointing to their own precedents.

No doubt the British brought a healthy dose of racism and their version of "manifest destiny" to a good bit of the globe in the 1800 & 1900s, but as was said upthread, I don't know of any of the countries they occupied which ended up the worse for the occupation.
