Someone once compared Chicago to Beirut. Not a bad comparison, although Beirut may be more peaceful these days.

The officers are not stupid and probably don't see any advantage to put themselves between the thugs.

Imagine if the would let private citizens protect themselves and reduce the population of the thugs at the same time. Sounds like a win/win.

I would argue (no purple used or implied) that gun control does in fact work extremely well in Chicago. The sheep are herded from their homes to work and back, and are extremely compliant lest they become wolf-chow. As always, gun control is about control, not guns, and the thugs play a critical role in presenting a bogeyman that encourages people to sacrifice their liberty in exchange for the illusion of safety--and then, when push comes to shove, all they can do for themselves is beg, 'pleeeeeeeeease use Vaseline'.

I have a friend who recently retired from the chicago pd, himself and many others wish that the people could defend themselves. As it is now, there simply aren't enough good guys with weapons to counter the bad guys.

Someone is talking about having to title every gun in Illinois now as a fix to the shooting problem saying that if a guy goes out and buys 200 guns and sells them on the street and they are used during a crime the guy holding the title will be prosecuted.

Soooo, I wonder how many criminals buy 200 guns from a gun dealer for resale to other criminals in Illinois?
