So I am coming up on my 4th firearm purchase and am starting to think about a 'safe' or 'locker' for my firearms. Both to make them harder to walk off with, and also to protect them from moisture.

I read through some suggestions on other sites but I've turned up is much help since I'm a renter and live on the second floor of a small apartment. Do any other renters out there have any suggestions? I just need something to hold 3-4 long guns, 3-4 pistols and some ammo for now.

It's what I use and it fits fine in a closet. You'd be able to get it up a flight of stairs with a dolley and a buddy without a problem. I switched from the gun "locker" or "cabinet" like the following Sentinel Security Cabinet 8.03 cu. ft. Keyed Lock, Black 1-Door at Menards

There are plenty of options available out there. Just decide on a budget before hand and see what fits! Locking cabinets are cheap and portable (for you and the bad guys) while the safes will provide usually better security but more difficult to move up a flight of stairs. Depends on if you are willing to pay for fire protection, how many guns you need to store (might want an eye towards the future) and what level of theft deterrence you can fit in your budget.

A cheap gun locker on it's back under the bed might work. Check the web...somebody used to build an underbed gun safe on casters....maybe they stiil do.

I just did a Craig's List search and found this. Talked the guy down to $80 so I think I'm going to go this route.

What I've read about security in cabinets leads me to belive it's a joke anyway so I am going with style and function over security for now. My renters insurance covers my collection for now as well so...

Now I just need some good silica beads. Does anyone have any suggestions?
