    I think, in the interest of saving just one life, the IRS should return 95% of the purchase price of a safe

    I know these are typically tongue in cheek, but how about instead the government leaves guns and their assorted paraphernalia the heck ALONE.

    I had this idea a while back. I don't know about 95%, but SOME incentive from the IRS I think would help a great deal to keep guns out of the wrong hands. It seems nowadays you get a credit for about anything with an Energy Star label on it, so why not something that's in best interest of safety? I think 15-20% would not be unreasonable. $1000 safe, minus 20%= $800. This would motivate more gun owners to do the responsible thing.

    There is nothing wrong with us using the tax code to obtain results we want without coercion.

    Let us use the tax code to our advantage. Let us start at the state level.
