I get in a hurry and forget to take pics as I go but here are a couple of what I have gotten done to my IO tube so far. Will try and slow down for and take more pics for the other cuts. I will be building this as a Semi-Auto 7 3/4 barreled pistol. I have all the parts I need except for my pistol grip. I hope to have it soon.

Awesome! You are doing a great job. The milling machine makes the cits a whole lot nicer then the Dremel :-( I will be using my mill on the next one. Keep the pics rolling! We'll have to have a Sten shoot off when your done:draw: lol, Have you got a time frame on completion? Oh and I ordered a cutter for the front sight but you probably have that covers with your setup and work.

Keep up the great work. It looks excellent.

I do not have a cutter that small unfortunately. Hopefully have it test fit sometime this week. After I get it all together and working I plan to send it out to have it black oxided. Still waiting on my pistol grip from AA-OK.

I just looked on the map to see where Clifford is. It's not close to me. I'd bring my cutter over and we could just cut both. Although I am crazy enough that I might be persuaded to lol. I bought the cutter from Midway. I think it was around 40 bucks. It is only .300 wide. My sight measures .311 inches. It will take 2 passes or finishing the cut with a file. My cutter will be here tomorrow.

Call AA-OK and lean on them a little. They ship slow but if you bug them they will get it out faster. Squeaky wheel gets the grease :-)

Who do you have planned for doing the black oxide? Any Ideal of cost? just curious. After the front slot is cut I am ready for a little cleanup, then finish coat. I thought about hot rust blueing at home. I have been researching the heck out of it.

Going to send it out with stuff here from work and have it done on works dime. LOL I can't remember who does it but we have our heat treating place (Sturm Steel) pick it up and they contract it out for us. They have a $90 minimum. Here are a couple more pics of milling the j-slots and rotation slot in the tube. All of the mill work is now done. Time for some deburring and then onto the test fitting.

Did you Sten Kit have this nub in the rear of the trigger housing/Receiver?

Thanks IndyGunworks. Really an easy build especially if you have access to a mill and lathe. Thought about doing a drill press and Dremel build but said the heck with that since I had the machines at my disposal.

That looks awesome. The mill is the way to go. Looks much nicer then mine.

Be careful how you transport that to the coater. Once the trigger assembly and barrel nut are in place it is a gun! you have to follow all fire arm regulations. You can't just drop it in a box and mail it somewhere! Maybe the pace you use is within driving distance. I can't wait to see the end project. Great job!

They pick it up in their truck and take it to the Black Oxiders. No using USPS or UPS. That should be fine right?

You should be good. I would let the driver know that he is transporting it just incase he has an issue. Tell him it is a stripped frame. Non functional!

I wish AA-OK would hurry the hell up and get me my pistol grip so I can take that goofy barrel extension off.
I e-mailed and called them. Waiting to hear back from them.

My Sten is built and ready to test fire. Need to load a mag and check function then it is off to the range to test her out. Nice and snowy out too. I can not wait. I do have an empty 9mm shell with intact primer here at my desk. I could scare the sh*t outta people. LOL GOtta get with our black oxiders and see if there would be any problem sending them the parts. Definitely have to build another. Was a fun little project. Probably build a vertical mag version next.

    What an interesting looking firearm...

I'm hoping to get some milling machines in my garage so I can build stuff - not necessarily firearms parts [but it would be nice to be able to].

See if you can get somebody to video the first shots?

I wondered why you didn't mill out the bolt hold slot. Then it hit me. Duh. First time I shot a full auto Uzi I asked the guy how to get the bolt forward. Hint; pull the trigger. (yes, pointed at the target) Then again, STEN has no safety. Just semi and mag dump. Or am I nuts? (again)
