    Sounds like you're going to have a Sweet 1911 when your done.
    Seems I remember 1911 blank forgings a couple of years back, but when I looked last year I couldn't find any. Don't know if there was a rule change that didn't allow them to be sold anymore or what.

    I think they are still legal but very hard to find. You'll need a mill to finish out an 80% frame. I am sure the Feds would love to put a stop to home manufacturing. I have built several 1911 from Baer slide/frame kits and they are very nice. The slide will not go onto the frame when you get it. You need to take maybe 5 thous. off of the rails and it will just start to go on. Sometimes just a very light kiss with a file will get it close enough to stone the rest of the way.
