Chevyman540, Yes it is an original SS 396 according to VIN 3837, but it does not have a gauge package. Could have been taken before I acquired it. It is a 4spd car, it has a 1966 396 375hp from a 66 Chevelle I had. The car was mostly stripped of it's parts when I bought it in 1983. I put all GM sheet metal on it in 1990 I was working at Dan Young Chevy at the time. Have Drag raced it for a few years, looking to drive it on the street again, but will need to swap rear end. It has a spool with 456 gears. I have always had a fondness of this car it will be my sons someday. Take Care.

    Nice looking car.
I had a 69 ss I bought back in 82. It was painted Earl Schribe green. Had a small block, 4spd, 410 12 bolt posi, and bench seat. As I was stripping the paint, it had the original
paint underneath, Hugger orange. Trim tag confirmed the color. Put a 454 .030 over in it, turbo 400 4500 stall and 488 gears. I painted it yellow w/black stripes. Man it was fun to drive. Sold it a few years ago to fund the 540ci motor for my monte.
