I have converted my post ban Mak 90 to it's original form (yes it is 922 compliant) and to finish it off I found an original chinese type 56 front sight/folding spike bayonet. However I am having a difficult time geting the original sight off the barrel. It took 5 minutes to punch out the two pins and with the purchase of shop press thought the sight would be as simple. Well the plates do not hold the barrel tight enough to withstand pressure to push off the sight. They lack straight sides. I have looked online for other press plates but have been unable to find any.

Does anyone know where to find some press plates more freindly for this purpose ??

My press plates like many others are shaped like big x's. getting them to fit snug to the barrel under the front sight is impossible. Basically I just need two metal rectangles.

When I need metal I go to a local welding/fab shop.
A shop like that could cut or shear some pieces for you. Or they may have something like 1"x 1" or larger keystock.
