Wife and I are headed out the door now.

Take advantage of this gorgeous day and get outside!!!!!

Heck, if you go to Shades too, say hello to the "tall couple". Chances are very high that it's my wife and me.

When my daughter was quite young, I owned a little Cessna and I used to fly her out there and land at the little grass strip at the park and we would go hiking. What a great time and what a great park.

Saturday was a GREAT day to be out in the woods!!!! I even OC'd for a short time...until I untucked my shirt to get some more ventilation on my back.

And, sadly, the airstrip is no more. They're using that ground now as a future site for a couple of large picnic shelters.

I spoke with the gate attendant; she said that since they went on the camp site reservation system with the other state parks that their traffic has been WAY up.

Kind of sad, though...traffic up means more people get to see Shades, but also that there are more people seeing Shades. A big draw was that it didn't have the traffic of Turkey Run.

Oh well... It was fun to once again hike around where I used to work. :)

Yep, one of my favorites too!

It certainly helps that the park is only 13 minutes from my parent's house, too. hehe
