I currently have a HK SP89 unfired in mint condition.

I really never want to get rid of this somewhat rare weapon and I would enjoy modifying the weapon. I have been reading through several of the NFA stickys and various threads. I have not come across anyone who has done an SP89 or MP5K SBRs.

The weapon currently is a pistol, no buttstock or front grip.

I have the original HK front grip that came with the weapon.

    1. If I just install a folding stock, could I put the front grip back on the weapon with a registration for SBR?

    2. Do I leave the weapon in mint condition?

    3. WTH would you do?:rockwoot:

I use to shoot a SP89 that Fleming had built into a MP5K PDW. Had the should rig for it even. I found for competition I really preferred my registered sear 94 with the solid stock. But the one time I did shoot the PDW in a concealed carry match it really got folks attention...lol.

Go ahead and SBR it...you will have a riot!

I don't think you could go wrong. If you don't like it, it should sell
fast, but I think you will keep it.

You guess right. The HK was a gift from my grandfather shortly before he passed away last year. Just hesitant to do anything with it because it is 20 years old, never fired and in perfect condition. But, you only live once, why not make it into something great.

I got a NIB SP89 a dozen years ago, took it down to KCR, picked up all the accessories, put it together on the tail gate in the camp ground and out shooting at the Bumbs rush the next day. No paper work (for the SP89) or engraving needed due to one $450 accessory (see photo). However in your case will have to engrave your name, city etc. some place visible on the SP89, including the barrel or at the very least a permanent part.

I did a transfer of a HK94 style pistol a couple weeks ago. It felt like my MP5.
Jeff does great work!. You could get one of his, SBR it yourself or have him SBR it for you and then XFR it back to you.

an unregistered sear ? and posting it open on a form WOW ...
What makes you think its unregistered :dunno:

He just bought it back when they were $450 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where did he say it was "unregistered" ?????????????

He said "P.S. Photo is a Fleming Sear (aka conversion device)" which if you knew what you were talking about you would know all "Flemming " sears are transferable !
