I could see building something like this in a last ditch, SHTF, scenario. Something like a freedom fighter or French resistance scenario.
I would never build one and shoot it for leisure. And he'll no, would I shoot it with a slug. Lol
The whole barrel obstruction thing....ehhh, the Army used to issue plastic muzzle caps that slipped over the flash suppressor that you could shoot off in an emergency.

I wouldn't call a spend shell an "obstruction". Its just gonna pop out the end with little force. People have been making slam fire shotguns for a while now with gas pipes.
