Edit: Ok. Plate is normal I guess compared to other pics online. Maybe an in between variation of these?

Not that I know of. It's brand new.

Yeah, I agree that's atrocious. Sadly that seems to be the quality level of Smith and Wesson these days.
Shot it yet? Im willing to bet you couldn't hit a target a foot in front of you with the sights canted that bad.

I had a customer catch 40 s&w mags in his new 9mm shield yesterday. Bottom line, always check your new firearm out before you pay and leave the store because with most shops you cannot return the gun.

Looks like somebody may have dropped it (maybe in the store) and it landed on the rear sight.
Just goes to show how easy it can be to damage plastic sights.
Get some night sights for it and call it good.

That's funny. Doesn't surprise me though. I helped a friend purchase a S&W Shield 9mm about a year ago. We got it home and discovered two followers in the same magazine. Always check your stuff.

I have an SD9 as well. Mine does not look like that. I agree with earlier poster. Looks like poor QC.
