Picked up some mixed brass for 38 Spl plinking. Noticed that those with a I V I headstamp (as I recall anyway) were sometimes difficult to get the primers out of, and also sometimes difficult to get the new primer in. Has anyone else experienced that, and does anyone know what the issue is? To me, it almost seems like the spent primers are "crimped" into the case head. Thanks.

They probably are for some goofy reason. Pics?

I have quite a bit of 308 brass stamped IVI. It was all crimped as I recall, but not surpisingly as most milsurp is. Have you removed the crimp and tried to seat primers? Still difficult?

I'd be cautious of the cases already primed. If they were difficult to seat, they may not be in correctly. Primers need to have a snug fit, but the pressure to insert them should be consistent throughout the stroke.
