    To All,

If you have been considering investing in metals, particularly silver as you many not have $1k+ to put into gold, NOW... TODAY is the day to do so!

I have been buying a little here and there when I could. As I keep track of everything on spreadsheets I tracked my silver. The cheapest I bought it at was $16.21 in August of 2009.

Today it is at $15.57!!! The last time it was this low was about five (5) years ago in Feb of 2010, when it was about $15.10.

Now, I am not an investment guru or specialist. There are many more out there far wiser than I. All I know is that it has been mostly over $16.00 for about the last half decade, hitting a high of $46+ in April 2011. While it could fall farther I do not believe it will fall significantly far enough to justify hoping for the bottom, but that is just me.

Here is a link for you if you want to save it and check every day: http://kitco.com/market/

Sometimes we think about doing something and never get around to it. I am hoping to gently nudge someone with some good data IF this is something you are interested in.

    Regards,

    Doug

I like Provident Metals. You can hunt around but they tend to be pretty good. Better if you pay by wire transfer or check and are willing to wait. Right now they have free shipping for orders over $99. They often have spcials on generic rounds and bars under $1.00/oz over spot.

I placed a small order this morning and already received a shipping notice.

Been buying junk dimes for a while. They have a known silver content and are already denominated small enough for transactions. I have some gold and silver in Canadian Maple Leafs (.9999 rather than .999) but the dimes are my main thing because I want to be able to buy things from people if things go all stoopid on us.

    To All,

I would check with some local coin shops. Most of them sell silver and gold along with coins, stamps, etc.

Most local will be $0.75 - $1.50 over spot and charge sales tax. A couple phone calls can give you a good idea. Also, some will charge less over spot if you buy more. For example, the last time I checked at a local coin store it was $1.50 over spot, but if you bought ten (10) ounces or more it went down to $1.00 over spot. I believe if you wanted to buy 100 ounces it would reduce even further.

I have followed Apmex but never bought anything from them. Watch for different prices online between charge cards including debit cards and online checks or money orders.

    I hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Doug

A better investment is guns and ammo. I don't use or have a spread sheet but I know they've went up a **** load and will continue to do so. Much better gain than metals and will always be in demand

You'll pay over spot, and if you sell it will be under. Just the way it is. The dealers have to make their money somehow. You can't expect them to do it all for free.
