    Well since all I have is a glock 17 and a HK P7 M8, I would be comfortable with either one. I believe that a well place shot from either one would detour anything coming my way. Both are very accurate and reliable.

    possibly a revolver in 454 casull but then again Im not a revolver fan so probably a G21 with some hornday hollow points

    I do not think there is a good handgun for dealing with bears, but I got the xdm with the idea that it would be a good thing to take along next time I was in bear country.

    Sold the gun I would have taken camping, S&W 686, ported barrel. Even with hot magnum rounds not much muzzle flip, so quick follow ups (assuming typical wolf pack size of 6-8 wolves). Should be enough to stop a puma (assuming you even know he's there before he's on you ;)), could still take out a bear too if necessary. It wouldn't be my first choice for bear country, but since we're looking at a general purpose gun...

    If I was camping I'd want a Glock in a Safariland ALS holster with extra mags. Probably a full size G20 in 10mm :)
