The other day I am thinking I could use some bifocals to see up close. Then today I catch myself saying "I remember when you could get that gun for half that much" like my parents used to lament the 5 cent coke and 10 cent candy bar.

I feel the same way sometimes. I catch myself saying "I can't do that I used to" about things at work all the time. My back ache's, my knee's ache. I even have one of those lower back cushions for the seat of my work van.

Let me give you the good news about the bifocals. When I needed bifocals I thought I was getting old too. I bought the "no-line" or gradient bifocals and to my surprise my handgun shooting got way, way better. My ability to focus only on the front sight became simply a matter of tilting my head a little fore and aft until the front sight came into perfect focus and the rear sight and target blurred just the right amount. It made a very big difference instantly. Of course, I did trip up and down stairs a little at first but it has been well worth it.

Here's another test: Do you lament to younger folk that you can remember when 'this was all corn fields'?

My first COLT AR15 was $300 and my first AK was a Polytech with 3 mags and folding bayonet for $278! I still have that AK!

I can remember when gas was 99 cents! It feels like it was in another life.

It was in another life. This is America, 2.0. Scary to realize how different it is now from how it was then. Ancient Greece and modern Greece only share the same physical location. Not much else about them is the same. So too is the case with our Republic and the modern-day imitation of the same.

Wow. Some of you guys are ancient. When I started driving gas was between .70 and .80 cents a gallon. I had a 91 nissan sentra and could drive for a week on less than 8 bucks. I could buy 3 packs of Marlboro with 5 bucks and get some change back. Hell that was just under 20 years ago. Man, how things have changed.
