    Ketchup on eggs = sacrilege

Ketchup in B&G = death by drawing & quartering

Let's not confuse haute cuisine of adding a little flavor to soup beans with culinary terrorism.

I was born and raised on the Westside of Evansville, so a pretty heavy German influence. When I have ham and beans, I have to have a dollap of mayo with it.

    Sound strange, but it's good.

:yesway: I always adorn my soup beans heavily with ketchup.
Sauerkraut is another good candidate for the Ketchup treatment.
My dad would not only do this with beans and sauerkraut, but on vanilla ice cream, too. That one never appealed to me, (although I tried it more than once.)

When you're eating soup beans / ham & beans, do you put ketchup in 'em?

    My wife thinks I'm nuts.

I think she's nuts. I grew up putting ketchup in my soup beans, dang it!

I like crumbling up cornbread in my ham and beans, along with putting a little onions, salt, pepper and topped off with ketchup and mustard.

Ketchup and onions in the beans FTW! :rockwoot:

One of my favorite Dirty Harry lines is "Only a moron puts ketchup on a hot dog" or close to that. :D

There are certainly rules on hot dogs...
    1. kraut and brown mustard
    2. pickle relish with yellow mustard
    3. chili and cheese

    Nailed it!

Ketchup is what children are given so they can mask the taste of their food. Men use mustard (on hot dogs), onions and hot sauce.

If you use ketchup past the age of ten, you might be a terrorist.

    :tinfoil:

    :+1:

I would amend the above to say that ketchup is allowed on fries after age 10, but little else.

Oh, and NEVER on a hotdog!

Ketchup is nasty. Ham and beans = nasty too.

Here's our terrorist.^^ And his taste is all in his mouth too.:):

I ate 'em with ketchup when I was a kid but nowadays it's usually Tobasco. Onions are a plus and good moist cornbread hot out of the oven is hard to beat with 'em. And it makes good dessert with butter and honey and a glass of milk.

The fellow I don't understand is the one that said he put RELISH in it.:n00b:

Now I've read the whole thread and I'm starving!

Have you seen the tomatoes going in to the ketchup factory? The trucks are black from being covered in flies.

You cant even see the red of the tomatoes.

    Pics?

I've literally seen thousands of tons of tomatos unloaded and never saw anything like that. Insects, rodents, snakes and other foreign materials do get picked with the tomatoes but it gets separated out as the tomatoes are floated into the plant in water. After that they are hand sorted at more than one sorting station.

I have seen a lot of tomatoes picked around Kokomo to be trucked to Red Gold. Never saw anything like that either.
