IAR is best described as a combination of SCSA and USPSA. Many of the targets are reactive steel, but some cardboard is used as well.

Anything that shoots .22LR is fine.
I suggest a semi-auto rifle or pistol...or both!

The classics work well. Pistols = Ruger Mk 2, 3, 4...
Rifle entries = Ruger again, 10-22. OR an AR pattern 22LR gun.

SOMEDAY, I might add a Division for 22LR revolvers (S&W 617, et. al.) ...Which are fine to use NOW, just not very "competitive".
