Anyone know of where stats are tracked? Wondering if crime was down since the criminals were probably more concerned about running into armed victims...

Just watched the news this weekend, and the usual shots fired and dead folks stories were definatly listed, however, the NRA Convention seemed to be assault free, thefts and auto burglaries may have happened as usual, but I bet robbery downtown dropped dramaticaly. PS Thugs just move out to the burbs for the day of thuggen and buggen.

While listening to the radio at work on Thursday the 24th I heard a guy on the radio say "This weekend is not the time to try and mug or rob someone in downtown Indianapolis. The NRA convention is in town for those of you who don't know." I got a good laugh out of it.

During the Alabama concert a Deputy Sheriff was asking 2 dudes and a woman to leave, well the 2 dudes weren’t having any of it and one of the dudes started really getting in the Deputy’s face. After maybe 30 seconds of this face to face stuff another Deputy and an event security guy (a big guy with a shaved head) arrived to backup the 1[SUP]st[/SUP] deputy. One of the dudes came to his senses and left going up toward the exit but the second dude must have liked the 3 to 1 odds and took a swing at the 1[SUP]st[/SUP] Deputy. After maybe 5 to 10 seconds the dude was eating some of the floor and getting handcuffed. I couldn’t tell if he got tased or not but he didn’t looked very good as they walked him up the steps.
The woman was escorted out about a minute later. A few minutes later a group of 8 or 10 got up to leave and they were jawing at some people 3 rows behind the people that got kicked out. So something just have been said earlier between the two groups and the 2 dudes got the blame.
I’m surprised nothing was said about it in the news, at least I haven’t seen anything.

From what I could see, there wasn't even any littering!

We were a row up and across the aisle from that incident. I didn't see it happen but my daughter said he was tased. He sure didn't appear to have any fight left in him on the way out. We were wondering if the woman made it out without handcuffs.

Fortunately I haven' t seen a thing about it in the news anywhere either.

Maybe we should get a mass email campaign to Matthew Tully to do a piece on the crime (or rather, lack of) during the NRA convention and compare it to IBE. Nah, he wouldn't do it if his life depended on it.

There are a lot of people (judging by the comments on the local news sites) that should be eating crow after this past weekend, but they wont. They'll huff and puff like the petulant little brats that they are and won't be convinced even though the truth is smacking them right in the face. :lala:

It was my wifes first time at a big NRA event. On the ride home, she commented that everyone that we met were so nice, and the few celebrities we met were so down to earth. I always carry, but she was a little nervous seeing others open carry, but was quickly at ease after making small talk to other people.

At the show I overheard a teenaged girl trying to explain things to another girl. It looked like one of the girls was kind of freaking out about all the guns and people. As I walked by one grabbed (her friend?) by the shoulders and looked her in the eyes and said "look, you need to chill out. Yes, everyone here has guns, but it's ok. They are kind of weird, but they really are the nicest people once you get to know them".

Somebody seriously needs to be taking the Indy Star to task over this. All the BS articles before the event about how dangerous it was and Indy didn't want the NRA in town. Now crickets? Anyone write a letter to the editor?
