What are your thoughts on audio components from adcom? I never really got into home audio and surround sound, so I dont know much about anything.

I have a guy who is supposed to be getting me some details and specs on an Adcom preamp he wants to trade me. I dont really have much use for home audio, the ball and chain already says I have the TV to loud. If its worthwhile and I go through with the trade it will probably just end up on craigslist anyway but Is Adcom good stuff or is it like that white van audio stuff I read about... High priced junk?

bought'em both back in '87-'88.......and they still come on strong.
Ohm load on these'll shift all over the place......mines the 1st model produced.....they shut a Nakamichi PA7 down cold......no need for a sub......passive radiators in the bottom (sub-bass) will go down to 11......

    The Perreaux'll drive a 1ohm load all day long.......the Adcom'll run close to it......it's got some nutz........

Crown, carver, Perreaux , adcom all hold there own. I invest in speakers over amps personally. Remeber this is a pre amp.

Is this one a tube preamp. If so remember tube preamps should be warmed up for at least 5 minutes before cranking it up.
