Might want to look at a Ruger LC9, it is a single stack 9mm with a thumb safety. The mag's come with a finger extension if you want to get a full grip on it. With the flush fitting mag you will need to curl a pinky under it when griping it. They are a little stout when firing them, but not uncomfrotable (you will just feel the recoil a litte more than say a Glock). I have one and its a great little CC gun. Very inexpensive. (I paid under $400 for mine)

Honestly if you are going to look for a 1911 in 9mm in a small frame that STI or Colt defender will probably be the way to go. Ive never heard of any problems with an STI personally.

If you can be swayed at all I would go with a KAHR PM9 or maybe a P9

Edit to add forgot about the Springfield EMP 9mm.

I also have to confess Ive been looking for a 1911 in officers size for awhile myself and will get one sometime soon. The above three are the ones Im looking at.

I wish I knew why this felt so condescending, really got under my skin.....but oh well, that's my hang up, though you don't appear to have read the thread very well....Thanks anyways.

Did not mean to sound condescending. My apologies.

I understand trigger pull and size of the grip. Hope all works out for you!

    Thank you.

And if anyone is still interested, there has been a new allocation of funds to this endeavor after seeing these mini-1911's, and the committee is now investigating things in the vein of:
    1) Springfield EMP
    2) Colt Defender
    3) Kimber Ultra-Carry

    ...all still in 9mm.

Will report back in a however long it takes to get a gun.

Just another selection idea: what about the new Kimber solo carry? I have not handled one yet, but on paper it was designed for exactly what your asking for. And all the controls are passed down from the 1911.

Try looking at XD's. They are light, dependable and not bad priced. There are compact 45's starting around $400. Was on the WTS forum in compact not long ago.
