Their gun laws are unfortunate and from my outsider's perspective, demonstrate no small amount of disdain for history and what happens when regular people do not have ready access to weapons.

It kid of reminds me of military bases in war zones whose commanders insist that no one be armed inside of the gates.
Agreed. Putting it in context, Israel is a "socialist democracy" like those in western Europe where the state is the ultimate arbiter of things and the public's say is limited to *****ing at the ballot box.:noway: I have to admit though, it is odd that threads about gun laws in another country (which like ALL other countries, does NOT have the 2A in their constitution/laws) show up in a forum titled "legislation and the2nd Amendment". INGO needs another forum: "Boost or bash Israel"

And outside 'war zones'. Like Ft. Hood. Which is why 13 American soldiers were murdered on a non-war zone base

We can all thank that moron Clinton for that one, not the Base Commanders.

Appears libtards just never wise up.

While I'm no fan of Clinton, do tell how Fort Hood shooting was Clinton's fault?

There seems to be disagreement on whether Bush Sr or Clinton made military bases GFZs.
I'm pretty sure that was in Clinton's first term. Gun control gained a lot of momentum in the 90s with even a handgun ban possibility in the scopes.

Good grief.... for those blaming Bush or Clinton for GFZs at Fort Hood you do realize that the military is a GFZ regardless of who was or is President and what laws are passed. The military is not a bastion of individual liberties.

You might want to tell Reagan that then. Since he eased restrictions. Yes, you give up liberties when you enlist. But, the President is the Commander in Chief. If he says "no guns except security", then that what happens. He can also say, "allowed by individuals", or "up to the area commander".

I was in during the Bush and Clinton years, Commanded a Company during the Clinton years .... no change in private gun policy at the operational level. Don't what this to go like the other thread :). Modrengunner blamed Clinton for the Fort Hood Massacre, and not the base commander suggesting that the base commander would have allowed the solider to be armed, based on my experiences I seriously doubt it.

Before Reagan, ALL bases were GFZs (except security personal), world wide.
Actually lasted into the beginning of Reagan's watch.
Security on watch often had ammo LOCKED up.
