Starting a new thread for this due to new info. I need to source several hundred dummy rounds similar to a 416 Rigby soft point. They must have nickel cases, no powder, no primer.
I will load myself if need be. My question is, what are my realistic caliber options with the above criteria?

I pitched 30.06 but they don't care for the "Rambo" look (yes, that is what they said... lol) So rounded projectile it is. What else besides the 416 Rigby can I look into?

    .
Nickle cases would be a hard find, I've reloaded lots of big caliber ammo over 40 years and I can't remember using nickle plated stuff in that size. Straight wall cartridges in about that size would be 405 WCF, 444 marlin and 45-70. Really long cases with the short shoulder might be 375 Holland and Holland.

.45-70 nickel brass should be fairly easy to source. Stuff a 405 gr. Soft point in those and that could be the look they want.

Yes, .45/70 nickel cases are probably the largest readily available(and reasonably priced) nickel case option. Either 7mm mag or one of the .300 magnums(especially the H&H) would probably work with heavy round nose bullets, if you could find them in that quantity. I'm not sure they will have the quantity you are looking for and they are primed but I did find these nickel .416 rigby cases.

Well, my other suggestions were poo pooed so 416 it is. I ordered them from the link above, had found that a couple days ago. Now I have to get rounded soft points and a reloading setup to make them.

At least they didn't pick something even more obscure and expensive, though the bullets won't be cheap either unless you can catch a blemished bullet sale at Midway.

Now I have to buy a Press to make these dumb things because I've got a D prime the casings and I don't want to do that in my reloading room was thinking about just picking up BL 550

I'm not. I intend to reclaim them on a press in a safe area with safety gear on unless someone has a 416 I can fire a few hundred times. Current count is 350 dummmies required.
