It's about friggen' time that our forces are prepared for cold weather. We can go back many decades with our military men freezing in extremely cold environments due to lack of proper gear.

Spent a winter in South Korea, not sure the military is preparing for a war necessarily but good cold weather gear is crucial for places we already position troops.

It's all about the clicks. A headline reading "military fields new uniform" won't get many clicks.

In the Army back in the 80s - 90s and we had cold weather training and than they shipped is to the desert.

I recall being jealous of those with Gore-Tex when I had a measly standard field jacket and liner. I also remember wearing rip-stop BDUs in the snow because they dried out faster.

Good times, good times.....wait Not so good times, not so good times.

I was deployed to a desert region with a full cold weather kit, including the white arctic mickey mouse boots, specified as part of my required kit. I assume it was reasoned that we could be redeployed to a cold weather base.

Always seems to be too hot or too cold.

I love MSN's headline, no hyperbole at all!

The Army's and Marine Corps' latest uniform changes hint at preparations for a looming 'big-a** war'

Is that the Al Udeid or Manas question?

I did four years of active duty time at Fort Carson, CO, those arctic sleeping bags were bulky but i'd sleep outside all night in winter and not be bothered at all.
