    I hope it doesn't pass but probably will. However this is not the first step toward socialism nor where the bank bailouts or taking over GM or the to big to fails.
    It's been creeping in for a while now.

    I have a solution. Start over. The dems are obviously trying to derail any attempts by the repubs to DEBATE the bill. They don't care about the R's and are showing it very clearly. If you're not watching CSPAN then you have no idea. They won't let the R's even talk. Yet everyone's quiet when the D's speak.

    This bill is going to pass. Hell is going to raise in this Country. I personally will not conform to this blatant violation to our Constitution.

    The "General Welfare" clause has nothing to do with people. It has everything to do with Liberty.

    It reads, and I quote...

    USC Preamble said:
    We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

    Right there it defines "General Welfare" and is how it should be interpreted here...

    USC Section 8 said:
    The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States;

    The general Welfare of the US. The Liberty of the US. Not government mandated handouts.

    The Federal Government has NO AUTHORITY to FORCE me to purchase ANYTHING. Neither does the States. This was brought up before the House and they brushed it off as a technicality. Fing disgusting. Today, I'm an American. Tomorrow, I'm a criminal by default. I'm sick. I'm sick of this blatant violation of my rights. Today, I get drunk. Tomorrow I pray.

    Government already controls and warps the medical market place. They have for decades. This is just the latest step. And, yes, it's likely to pass. No, no-one's going to do anything about it, either. Lots of talk about November, but I really doubt anything will change there, either. Even if the republicrats were to regain majorities in the house and senate they're not going to repeal this anymore than they repealed medicare/aid or the FDA. We'll be stuck with this until there's a complete reset and I'm not holding my breath waiting for that to happen.

    I belive the obama-care bill will pass,unless there is serious Divine Intervention, this will be the first baby step to total socialism.
    So there for using Socraticirony i must say:

    I think Social Security was one of the first big steps towards socialism, at least after it was optional. I know what you are saying though, and agree that we are on a direct path.

    I just hope we get our act together before we turn out like the Soviet Union...

    Now that Stupak's crew is supporting it, it will pass. No question there.

    The thing we need to focus on now is challenging it with Greg Zoeller, our AG. I received email from his man-servant, bryan corbin, who said he wouldn't say anything more until the vote happens.

    The states will work this all the way to the supreme court. Too expensive, and more importantly, too unconstitutional.

    You're right. The republitards are just as guilty all saying they would support it if this weren't in it or that weren't in it. abortion, not raiding the coffers of other programs, yadadadada. NO ONE IS ARGUING CONSTITUTIONALITY!!!! :xmad:

    The solution involves clearing the Congress. And then the White House. And we don't need to replace one brand of bureaucrat with another.

    It's time for Change... _real_ change this time... the Christians among us would call it a "make a whip, righteous indignation, temple clearing exercise...", the non-Christian would call it a "good old barnyard butt-whipping".

    either way, it's coming in November.

    And you'll quickly learn how spineless our state politicians are as soon as the fed cuts off all funds to those states that challenge obamacare. Just like welfare queens who get free rent, medical, food stamps, etc, are addicted to government crack (handouts), the states and local governments are just as addicted to the government crack (grants and federal funds). The jig is up. Who is John Galt?

    what I find insane are the number of people who think more government control will lower costs. News flash people, the government is the reason why healthcare is insanely expensive now. They have been forcing the costs up since medicare/medicaid went into effect by forcing the private sector to pay for and make up for losses.
