So let's assume that the SCOUTS decision goes in our favor. They decide that the 2nd admendment is for individuals and the right to keep and bare arms include weapons common to military. What effect will this have on current laws. Will this squash any "assualt" weapons ban? Will the Socialist Republic of Illinois have to start to allow carrying?

I would say that Illinois and Wisconsin would not be able to block the people's right to carry.

I think another AWB would be hard to pass in congress, If one did they would get voted out like last time. Best case scenario would be the allowed imports and sales of all military weapons.

I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.

NO and NO. What is means is that another lawsuit will be able to use the Supreme Court decision as a precident... these laws will have to be overturned individually...

Right now, I agree, however a whole lot could change in November, before and beyond.

As far as November is concerned, all the news has been focused on the Democratic nomination. None has been to the congressional seats. A fair amount of incumbent Republicans are not even running for reelection. If all this hope and change BS gets bought, along with the supposed explosion of "youth voting turnout" the Democratic majorities could expand quite a lot. The Dems are avoiding any discussions of gun control right now because they know they don't have a deciding majority. Make no mistake, if that changes in their favor, the flood gates will open.

Separate from all of that, congresses minds could change in a heartbeat. Another mass shooting, with a semi-auto rifle and a higher body count could get all kinds of bad things going.

The AWB did not get voted out, it sunsetted.
If we allow enough liberals to be voted into congress, combined with a liberal White house, the next AWB may not have a 10 year lifetime, it could be permanent. There is nothing to assure that existing firearms will be grandfathered, they could be made illegal to own!

Assuming the Heller case goes our way, it is being said that there will likely be 20ish years of subsequent trials on all levels to get it all sorted out.
