i think 22 LR is harder to find than .223

Yes it allows the use of 22lr from an AR which is cheaper. Although as far as I can tell accuracy does drop off a bit but for close quarters stuff there isn't much difference. I did put a single mag full of my precious 22lr stock through it and it cycled great. But I want to be able to shoots thousands of rounds through it. Someday this craziness will let up.

That makes the ar real cheap to shoot.... If you can find 22lr. Those things
Are about as hard to find as .223

You will need to clean your rifle really good after shooting the 22's. They are really dirty little cartridges.
