My father has his heart set on an H&K P30 9mm with the 5.5 lb pull double action "LEM" hammer.

He is asking me for bulk ammo recommendations and I have no idea what that light hammer will eat reliably.

We are looking at Geco, Blazer Brass, and S&B... Blazer is reliable but the plated bullet leaves more fouling, Geco and S&B seem to have hard primers from reviews.

Can anyone suggest a bulk ammo for this gun?

S&B definitely has hard primers. Great ammo but needs a good strike to set it off. Geco is the same.

Blazer uses CCI primers, that would be my recommendation for reliability.

I have a P30 and have used S&B and Blazer without any issues, but I am one of those guys that never seem to have problems for some reason. I did see someone comment that his only cycled the 124 g ammo well.

I also have a P30 that shoots S&B ammo fine, but it’s a V3, not an LEM. I don’t know if that makes a difference.

I do know my revolvers with lighter hammers won’t break an S&B primer sometimes, but shoot CCI primers without issue.

LEM does not mean "light hammer".

HK LEM is the "Law Enforcement Modification". H&K pistols are very reliable, military & law enforcement duty, and the LEM option does not change this. The LEM option pre-cocks the mainspring while still having the long, light trigger pull that some prefer. Any spec ammo should run without issue.

    More can be learned here.
