this is the new future of america, we will quit any and all conflicts or wars, winning does not matter, only political correctness and what is beneficial for the politician in power at the time. It is no longer for the people, or by the people, it is for the politician's career by the people's money.

Define "winning" in Afghanistan. What was our mission, again?

    Not a winnable war.

The war was won. It was the nation building that was stupid. Our military is awesome at going in and destroying stuff, tis what they are designed to do. But NOT to act as cops.

If a country harbors our enemies, we should go in and decimate them...then LEAVE. Let them rebuild. Price they pay for harboring those that attack us.

What's a win? If I remember correctly, about a fuzz over a decade ago we wanted Bin Laden. The Taliban said no. We said we'd come get him if they didn't comply. They didn't comply. We went, removed the Taliban from power, and got Bin Laden. WE DID WHAT WE SAID WE WANTED TO DO WHEN THIS WAR STARTED.

Mission creep has changed that into a decade long mess of nation building, poppy eradication, human rights campaign, culture shifting, and who the eff knows what else.

We seek our blood and money into a country that's only a country on a map and try to convince a population that thinks in terms of tribes instead of nationalism that they are Afghanis. Its like someone coming to America and trying to convince us that we are, in fact, the same political entity as Canada, Mexico, Belize, Guatamala, Honduras, etc. because they are on the same continent. We don't think in terms of "continent", we think in terms of "country" and it would be a HUGE culture shift to change that. Probably impossible to do over one generation for the majority of the population.

What else do you want to do? Why do you think "political correctness" is the reason we're pulling out? What does PC even MEAN in this instance?

If it's for the people and by the people, why did we continue to stay after the majority of the nation lost faith in the war?

    I agree.
The mission has long ago been accomplished in Afghanistan.
Time to bring the troops home.

I wonder how many had smug attitudes, were willing to call Afghanistan another Vietnam, and claimed to be experts on the subject in October 2001? vs. how many take advantage of 12 years of hindsight, read a few books on the soviet union and claim to have "known better"

Define "winning" in Afghanistan. What was our mission, again?

    1. The complete extermination of American Liberty
    2. Enslave the country in tax debt and economic ruin
    3. Trick the citizens into wanting #1 and #2

Yep... I'd say we won :xmad:

I wonder how many smug attitudes were convinced getting on the Hindenburg was a good idea before it blew up?

so was that the goal of the bush administration day 1, or on September 12th?

We can speculate about his plans and intentions until we are blue in the face... its the results that matter.

Whether that was his goal on September 12th....
Whether that was his goal on September 10th....
or whether he is the second coming of Jehova....

It doesn't matter... we lost and most don't even know it....
