Last year, on a whim, I picked up a Taurus C38 Thunderbolt chambered for .38spl/.357magnum. It's a pump action and has a 26" barrel. It's a great shooting little rifle. It shoulders as well as any I've raised. The weight is tolerable, and the short throw of the pump action is almost too short to believe.

My only problem is the rear sight.
It's a "Buckhorn" style sight, but when I look through it at shoulder distance, it's looks like there's a 1/4 mile gap between the ears.

Can anyone suggest a replacement rear sight for this rifle?

Ideally I'd like a peep sight.

    What say Ingo?

Williams makes a peep sight that will fit in the dovetail of the rear sight. Otherwise, a tang mounted Marbles sight is your best bet. I don't remember if the Taurus is tapped for the tang sight. Not a hard job for any gunsmith or machine shop.

    I'll check out Skinner.

I just realized that my Taurus is going to take the same peep sight that fits my 1885 Winchester Low-Wall.

I believe I have a Lyman sight on it now, and I really like it.

Williams, Lyman or Skinner. I don't think you could go wrong. I must admit I really like the Lyman peep my buddy has on his Guide gun. I really hate buckhorns. I can't shoot them worth a crap.
