    Unfortunately, he's already been through most of this with her. Started her with a .22 revolver, but tried to get her to move up. No physical issues - she wants what she wants regardless of whether or not it exists, and doesn't want to practice a lot. And he's trying to accommodate her.

    Sounds like she's a lady that doesn't really want to shoot, and has recoil issues.
    The only way she's going to move up, is if she wants to. The recoil issue is actually simple enough, the wanting to is the hard part.

    Not knowing the lady, I can't help with the wanting to part other than the usual take your time and don't push her into something she's not ready for.
    Someone mentioned a class. Not a bad idea, husbands don't always make the best teachers.

    Truth is, she may be one of those people that is never comfortable with anything other than a .22
    If that's the case, all you can do is try to make her as proficient as possible with that .22
