The subject says it all. Do you guys lube the inside barrel? I was just reading the manual on my Sig P938, and is specifically says *not* to, or to lube the chamber. Comments?
The lube has to be driven outward and away from the projectile, possibly increasing pressure since lubricants used in firearms typically do not compress. Aside from that, lube collects residue. A clean dry barrel before shooting is advisable.
If you oil a barrel for long term storage, store it muzzle down so it does not fill the action and oil stain the wood stock if applicable. Be sure to dry patch the barrel clean BEFORE firing more ammo.
For storage I use Birchwood RIG grease in the bore. Before shooting I run a brush with mpro and patches to get it out. My 2 carry pistols stay dry with nothing in the bore.
