    Lots of OP speculation here. :):

    OP is buying night sights, it's silly to have a carry gun without them. In my opinion at least.

    Whicih Shield night sights do you like? I'm leaning towards Meprolight sights right now just because the Trijicon ones are insanely expensive.

    IMO, any failure of factory sights is a good indication it's time to upgrade anyway. My front tritium was dead on my FS M&P when I bought it. Smith sent me a new one which only lasted through one training class and a Friday Night Steel (about 500rds total) before it blew. In their defense, I installed the replacement with a hammer and a punch because I didn't know any better at the time. This likely lead to the failing, although I did the same to my I-Dots, and that front lasted nearly 10,000rds before it blew. Ameriglo replaced that one for free, and I installed the replacement with a pusher like a good boy.
