    Yep, I know what you meant, that's all part of why I didn't like the Glock. If I tried one today I might like it better, but, I don't think I would be shocked at how good it was like the m&p.

    There actually is no spring in the detach lever. I think it just rubs against the recoil spring (or somethin) on the compact models, because ithe lever is further back than on full size. I figured out to just hold the lever forward with my left index finger while my left hand is gripping the gun, and then it is a normal slide release procedure.

    A cool tip in the link below is to just pinch the barrel and slide spring bar together, and then the release stays put for take down!
