Garand actually designed prototypes with detachable mags. I think the army had some influence in the En Bloc clips being adopted

So cool. I read the military thought magazines were bulky and would be lost, so they went with clips. It was on the internet, so take it for what it's worth.

Neat, with ammo today an M1A is a solid way to enjoy this without sacrificing the historical awesomeness of an M1.
