Do they still make it? I did not see it on their site so I am guessing not. Anyone see these around? My dad had one briefly for a magazine article 8 or so years ago and I asked if he would be keeping it and he said no. I was rather let down. It was the only lever gun I absolutely loved. At least I think that is what he had. It was a short, lever action, carbine with a ported barrel in .357 and had a hooded front sight.

I think Marlin (Remington) dropped that caliber. There are used ones around if you look a bit. Also Rossi and Uberti make them I believe.

The 1894cp was only made for a very brief period (like 2-3 years). You are correct, it had a 16.5" barrel that was ported. They tend to be pricey, at least they used to be. I bought one a year or so ago at the 1500 NIB, unfired for $700, thinking it was maybe $50-75 high but wanting one. With the price jump new Remlin 1894's have taken, it's now not so bad.

Crap. The only lever action gun I would want to buy is a limited run, out of production, gun costing as much as an AR. Figures. If I ever see one I will probably have to trade something I don't want to trade that I could at least replace a lot easier to enable the purchase.

The marlin 1894 c (357 pre safety) is hard to find now add that the 1894 cp was made for 2 years and that one is harder. Most run north of 800 now. Most that get sold are because the user does not like the porting. Great little guns. From bunnies to black bear, Marlin also made a 1894 CSS in stainless steel for one run before the remington take over. The 1894 cs is 18.5 inches if you get a good deal on one you could have it cut down to 16.5 front sight redovetailed and then ported.

Check out gunbroker. They come up or check out marlin owners forum. Most of the CP go within days of listing.

I have a ported outfitter in 444 marlin. A much bigger bullet that a 357. I love to watch both tables on each side of me move to the other end of the shooting range when i fire it off. I love to shoot it those to the side don't and sometime put in ear plugs under the ear muff's. IN 357 the porting is not nearly as fierce.
