Just wanted to share how fantastic the Marlin 336 (Pre-Remington) is for the money. I put Skinner peep sights on my 336 and was hitting a steel torso target at 370yds (verified via range finder) multiple times standing unsupported For anyone who wants a good well built all purpose rifle it does not get much better than a Marlin 336 chambered in 30-30

It does if you own a 336 in 35 rem......My old SC with the perch belly forearm and 1958 vintage steel peep sight.

I have a new 336W, .30-30. Only been to the range once so far, but I did like what I saw. If all goes well, I will be taking the Marlin, my Bersa 97, and my NEW rifle to the range sometime next week. Today I closed the deal on a Springfield M-1A! Can't wait to point it downrange and pull the trigger!

Marlin rifles make me wonder how Winchester ever got so popular. The Marlin is a far superior lever action, Although the Winchesters seem to handle hotter calibers.

    problem with my 336w

i just aquired this gun recently not knowing anything about it and
getting ready to clean it i noticed that the trigger has no resistance
like there is a spring missing.
i asked the guy i traded it for and he said he never noticed it not knowing a bunch should i tear it down via youtube reference or just leave it?

Did you actuate the lever (cocking it)?

If yes, I would take it to a qualified gunsmith.
