Marlin .44 rifle..What is it...

I am purchasing two Marlins from a friend..One is a Cowboy '94 in the box, very sweet...The other is what I believe is a guide gun (I was in a rush last night and didnt get a model #). It is a probably 18.5 inches, blued, ported barrel and in lever action with the crossbolt safety.

I have looked on Marlins site but cant find it. Can someone help guide me to a model # so I can do some research on this nice little rifle ?

That would be the model 1895GP.

The ported version has been discontinued, which is why you can't find it on Marlin's site. They still offer blued and stainless guide guns as the 1895G and GS.

YOu might have run into an Outfitter. It was an early version of the guide gun. In 444 marlin with ported barrel.

Looks like the one in shooters pic but chambered in the 444.

Thanks fellas !! The rifles are a friend of mine that her father passed away and need some bills paid..I am pretty sure its the '94gp. Her hubby, my buddy, let me put some rounds through it and I was darned impressed. I hit a 4" target three times at about 40 yards...cant wait for deer season !!
