How do preppers that need prescription medication plan for long term bug outs or bug ins? Some prescriptions cannot be refilled until a specific period of time passes.

Get your doctor to write your prescriptions to dispense 90 day supplies each time. Fill each one at the earliest refill time to help stockpile a few extra pills.

The only thing that stops you from refilling early is insurance, unless of course it's a controlled medication. If you pay cash and/or use a discount card, you can get as many as the script is written for.

    Example:

    Hctz
    1 po qd
    #90
    Refills: 12
    12*90=1080 tablets of Hydrochlorothiazide

Also worth note, if you happen to be going on an "extended vacation," most insurance companies will allow for what is called a vacation over ride. Just go to the pharmacy, let them know you will be leaving, they will call insurance. All most insurance companies need to know is date of departure, return, and sometimes destination and reason for trip. So, ya know, in case any of you will be out of state for a year or so. They do limit these, most often to 1 or 2 per prescription per year.
