The report says that more than 10 percent of the adult population in South Dakota, Indiana and Alabama now hold concealed carry permits, while 8 percent of the adult population in eight other states have permits.

An actual permit needing to be held should not even be a thing. Arizona does it right with allowing citizens to carry without a permit as long as your not a felon and what not.

Even at 8 days for my wait, that can be too long in some circumstances. In a perfect world, we'd have an electronic system that gives you instant approval or decline (like credit card companies), and allow you to carry by "putting you in the system" even while your license is in the mail.
