For $70 can I go wrong? Never owned a Mosin. Most of the cheap ammo is corrosive but I have no problem cleaning it after each use.

Are you going to hang it over the fire place? It looks like a nice rifle but not very practical

I'm not going to use it as a trunk gun or something :) Just a rifle to ad to my collection and bring to the range.

i have owned a m38 as well as a m44 there both a blast to shoot and extremely cheap and easy to mantain. the m38 i had was alot more accurate. just for shits and giggles i hunted and killed two pronghorn in wyoming at 200 + yards with the m38.

I have a M44. It's a blast to shoot, literally. It makes a huge fireball that is easily visible during the day. It's a pretty accurate gun too.

It's only $70 go for it, especially if you like to collect. If you hold out, get a hex reciever. You can easily find non-corrosive ammo because even newer rifles use the same round.

The 38/ 44 is a great choice also, I would get them both, the prices go up every day it seems like so get them while you can.

    M44

I have one of these guns and marvel at the men who used it. It is a great gun to shoot but do be aware of your surroundings. It shoots a powerful round and has a pretty good kick.

    I have:
    1 - M44 - 1946
    1 - 91/30 - 1933
    2 - M38 - 1943

I ordered an M38 for my son's birthday from SOG Today paid $89 + $10 for handpick $110 total but it was worth it, it's his first rifle.

Great guns! Like was stated earlier you cannot go wrong for $70. I paid $60 each for 10 of them and got like 2500 rounds thrown in. But this was several years ago. I wouldn't hesitate to pay $70 with todays prices.
