Anyone know of a good muzzle brake for the Mossberg 100ATR in .308?

I'd like to dial back the recoil a bit... that thing kicks like a mule.

    Any other suggestions are welcome.

Well, that's the thing... it's not threaded yet.

I've seen brakes that say "for .308" and such, but it's hard to nail down exactly what will work on it. What type is the one you have?

Or is this the kind of thing I should see a gunsmith about?

If its not threaded I wouldnt do it. your going to have 90 bucks in threading (I think, I've never hired it done). By the time you do that you probably better off selling the rifle and buying a threaded savage or a threaded savage with a brake.

The brake I have came on a savage 10 fcpk. Its threaded 5/8x24. I use a qd mount for my suppressor on that rifle so i just have the brake laying around

    I see.

Don't suppose they make brakes that use set screws instead of threading it onto the barrel, eh?

I think they do, I've personally never had any desire to try one.

I know a brake is not very long, but a brake has to be VERY consintric to the bore. If its off a little a bullet can strike the brake and bad things can happen.

I had a gun threaded for a brake once. It was about $75 to have it installed.

Lookup Defensive Edge Muzzle Brake and the Ops Inc muzzle brake. Both very good brakes. I put the Defensive Edge on my first .300 Win Mag and it made a HUGE difference.
