Best one I ever saw was what looked like a piece of art. It was an old west type display with a marshal's badge, a leather holster, and a Colt revolver. Turns out the revolver was clipped to the velvet and the Cole was real, removable, and loaded. His kids grew up in the house thinking the gun was always a fake.

Back when waterbeds were popular, I used to keep a revolver under the bladder at the base of the headboard. Safer than sleeping with it under the pillow, but just as easy to access.

Have you ever though about Johnson Safes. They are beautifully built, have a superb fire rating, and the owner of the company (Jeff Johnson) will deliver it to your house and bolt it into the floor for you.
He is also an ingo supporter and his safes are at reasonable prices.
