She has been asking to go squirrel hunting for a couple years now. I took her along a couple times last year when she was six to see how she would do. She loved it so I told her I would take her this year as long as she could shoot a .410. I picked up a nice little Rossi youth .410 for her this summer and let her practice with it on some coke cans and she did great. On our second hunt yesterday the chance finally came as the squirrels were out in force. She had numerous chance at a couple grays but just wasn't able to get a shot off before they moved. After about an hour a gray came down and say in a sapling right in front of us and she was ready. At the shot he climbed higher then fell back and hung on with one front foot for about 30 seconds and finally fell out to the ground. I don't know who was more proud ,me or her! It was definitely a special time for us both.
Now her 4 year old brother wants to go.

    Way to go, dad.
He'll make for some good eating.
Have her pick off her bag limit, and you can have a meal for the whole family.
