Sounds like you should change your mindset from what else can I get my wife, to just.. how can I make a quick 2 grand. If she has her mind set on that pistol it wouldn't be bad to splurge a little right? You are quite fortunate to have a woman who enjoys shooting. This goes with the territory.

    Try looking at used ones?

My wife currently carries a P22 and I know she needs to upgrade to a larger caliber but what she likes is going to kill me.

This all started with a trip to the range about a week ago. My wife had the opportunity to shoot a ton of different guns and she fell in love. Now she wants a Les Baer Custom. Yes, she shot it well and she handled it great but still ITS A 2000+ DOLLAR GUN! So what do I do? Do I buy it and let her put it in her purse or do I buy a cheaper 1911 and not get her the one she wants? I'm lost on this one so give me a little advice. What do I do?

Put a Springfield loaded field officer in her hands and she will love it just as much. These are right priced well made guns. I own 2 of them as the first one somehow turned into a full on race gun when I was not looking. Well, that's my story anyway. If she wants stainless put her in a Trophy match. I have one and it shoots as well as any. It is a sexy piece as well. Lots of luck.

Unless you HATE S&W and their EXTERNAL Ejectors (which are proving to be extremely reliable, especially the pro line), take a peek at the 1911 Sc Bobtail. They are around $1100. And talk about a gorgeous gun. nice size for carry, Tritium night sights. :)

My wife want's to upgrade too, but I don't think its her gun she's talking about.

    Is it yours?:D

Ok back on the Subject. Nice things are nice to have, but you dont need them. My wife and i do everything equal. If i buy a $1000 gun she gets $1000 to go spend wherever she wants. Yes....even the cheap guns are expensive for me.

She has good taste anyhow, the Les Baer is serious equipment but that shows she is serious as well .See if she will consider carrying on her person if she goes that big on a pistol. With that being said I would see if she would try out a Springfield loaded ,i love both of mine although A Les Baer or Ed Brown would be nice in the collection

Been reading some poor reviews on the Kimbers of late......their 500 round break in period not really improving their reliability. Not sure I want a gun that i can't trust as a carry gun. I had thought seriously about a Super Carry Pro, but no longer.
    Review here.

My Ultra Carry II has worked great and I only shot @ 150 rounds before I gave it 2 thumbs up for daily carry. just like my Kimber Custom II, works flawlessly

Sine it is intended to be a Carry Weapon, you would want to run enough runs thru any Pistol until you have 100% confidence that you can trust it.

Another consideration is the STI Escort

Take the plunge, get her what she wants. You'll both be the happier for it. Way better than a necklace that only she enjoys looking at.

Well, I would search the couch for all the loose change you can find and come up with that pistol!:twocents: I can't even get my wife to take any interest in shooting or guns for that matter. If all of a sudden she walks up to me and says if I could get her a 2,000$ 1911 so that she would take up shooting with me, then damn straight I would come up with that gun. JMHO.
