One of the comments made at the end, was that the article failed to mention one of the biggest differences was that Rangers train as larger groups (battalion), and the SEALs train as small groups.

There was mention about the SEALs being unfamiliar with "squad weapons" such as the m249.
    Well, duh.
Small units aren't toting that thing around.

On the contrary, they have used a number of variations on the M60, as well as the mk48.

I don't know if they use it or not, but toting isn't the issue. I personally wouldn't see the point in a saw if I had access to a mk48 or m60e6.

Apples and oranges. Two different purposes. A group of SEALs should be able to infiltrate an area held by Rangers to reach and objective. An operational Ranger group should be able to track down a group of SEALs if their cover is blown.

One of the commenters mentioned that it was wrong to compare them because they are different.

Seems like a odd thing to sell.

I thought so... lol -they also had stocks and the bullet links. I don't know of any civilian semi-auto versions of the SAW, but the fact that the parts are available and reasonable... I would imagine a resourceful person could make it happen.

Most of them still use squad weapons, just different ones. IE, MK46 in place of the M249 SAW or MK48 in place of the M240L, as a matter of fact, one of the pictures in the article showed a SEAL, during training, with a MK46 or MK48 (didn't pay that close of attention).

Really neat article, I didn't read it all yet but I will...

    Ok. My mistake.
Going back in my memory, I remember going topside in the Med and the SEALs broke out a M-60.
At least I think it was a M-60. Would a been late 80s.
I forgot it, probably because I didn't see it much. Usually full auto M-16s and various pistols.
(Navy was losing the 1911, but hadn't approved the Beretta. SEALs could pretty much pick whatever they wanted within certain parameters. I remember a full auto 9mm, sweet)

I'm being walked thru the full auto 9mm pistol.
