Neat WWII era flare gun

I was at an Auction last weekend buying a punch of stuff that I probably didn't need, but this 1943 "International Flare Signal Co, Tippecanoe City Ohio" 37mm? flare gun came home with me. I probably paid a little too much but it was neat. When I first saw it I thought it was a Webley flare gun with all the brass. It's dated July 1943 followed by a "PT" stamp. I'm cleaning it up this evening (not polishing) and thought I would share. Anyone else have a interesting old flare gun?

After tax and buyers premium it was about $125, I haven't found any ammo yet for it

That's not a bad deal. Stuff like this fluctuates based on who's buying and how many are for sale at the moment. Right now, you're not into it too deeply and they're getting more collectible.

I bet American Specialty Ammo (also out of Ohio) has flares that will work.

If not 37mm then it would be 1" and could use 26.5mm flares.

The British had a 1.5" flare at one point. Bet that lit up the sky.

I think it's 37mm I need to grab a set of calipers from the shop and double check. The barrel has a small dent right at the end of the muzzle that needs to worked out before I fire it

I had the same gun several years ago. Bought mine at an auction too.
I sold mine for $250 about 5 years back at a show.
