The closer you can get to a GI 1911 the better. One of the few weapons that can be COMPLETLY disassembled with no tools. Spare parts available all over the place.

They all are! A few match/Lem hybrids also.

Even a couple that have "special trigger mods"

And as far as that deal. That's why I bought it even though its my 3rd 45c.
Your third? Nice! If I were someone else, I might find that a little odd... I have 4 full size USP's though... I was actually thinking of trading my full size Hk45 for a Compact, seeing if there was someone out there that wanted to make that trade. Not sure yet though...

I carry a Glock 30SF everyday, Its smaller than a 1911, more reliable, and holds more ammo (10rds). I typically carry an extra G21 mag with an aftermarket +2extender so that 15 more rounds on top of the 10 in the gun. Check out the G30!

I love my Beretta PX4 Storm .45 ACP. Have put 1000 rounds through it flawlessly. My friends keep telling me to sell it and buy the CZ SP01 Phantom 9mm from my friend new in box. They say it is a superior gun. It holds 18 rounds. The 9mm is cheaper than the .45 for sure.

I have always felt, that if you wanted to carry a .45, you needed a 1911 style. But then I found a great deal on a used Sig P220. I stand corrected...

Thankfully I am not a fanboy of any certain brand or style so I am very open minded. I really want to get my money's worth on what ever I get.

The best thing that you can do is find a Cabella's or a similar store (that has a vast selection), and hold each gun.

I checked out my friend's brother's M&P9 and I'm gueessing that there isn't much difference bewteen the 9 and 45

Should be some in recoil. :)

    I love my MP 9mm Pro 5"

BTW, make sure to try the different backstraps on the MP series. They make a world of difference in feel.

Look for a Mil Spec Springfield 1911. They are of good quality, and they can be modified later with better sights, etc. according to your needs, wants, or wishes.

The Glock is OK, however, I have small hands, and have a problem with the double stack mag. You may want to look at a Glock 36, small, single stack, light. Recoil can be an issue though. Carry plenty of spare mags too.

I have a commander size RIA and think that it is great. It shoots point of aim and even allowed me to install night sights

There are a lot of different options out there for a nice 45 acp. I helped a friend recently with pick out a 45 and all i can say is go with what you like the look and feel of and not what others say. Getting something and then later regretting what you purchased is a horrible feeling.

That's what I've been doing so far. I sometimes regret buying my M1 Carbine, I love the thing and its my first gun but its pretty expensive to shoot.
