Should have been CC/OC, this would not have happened.

Wallyworld must have some good deals on them there high powered weapons.

Agree. I've often wondered why this hasn't happened more often. I sometimes wonder why this hasn't happened in the parking lots of guns shows, too. Maybe the BGs are afraid someone would be carrying there. But this is being discussed in another thread.

I hate Walmart. I wonder where the economy would be today if they bought 90% of their stuff manufactured in America vs. China.

With this logic folks would have to hate most every retail outlet within the U.S.

Its not the retail giant, its the U.S. Citizen wishing the cheapest price.

Sorry for the off topic, but it needed to be said.

That story as a pic of bad guy as he was exiting the store, the other two stories I read didn't. I bet he was hanging around the gun counter waiting for someone to buy a gun, then went outside and waited for the buyer to exit.

I agree, at the same time, I don't know of any other retail giant where cost of goods sold is $335 billion. I'll give 'em this, they have a tremendous supply chain and really know to how leverage their information. Unfortunately it's come at the expense of American jobs/earning power. :twocents:

We are studying them and their practices now in one of my leadership courses. Their argument is that "while they are sending manufacturing jobs overseas, they are creating more jobs here in supply chain, warehousing, retail, etc." :D

I'd contest with your statement that they aren't really "leveraging their information" per say. They really are leveraging US as consumers to "FORCE" their suppliers to do as they wish.

I always think of the South Park episode whenever people start thinking that walmart is "evil."

The town burnt down walmart, and took their business to a local mom and pop store. That store eventually became "evil" too, so the town burnt it down too.

This story makes me cringe, because a few months ago I thought I might be in a similar situation. I had just bought a Ruger 10/22 at Dick's, which is a story all by itself. I'll spare you the details but at the end of the affair I was not allowed to simply carry the boxed rifle out. The store clerk had to carry the rifle outside the store's front door and then hand it to me.

Two men were standing on the sidewalk nearby. After the clerk left one approached, asking what I had bought. "Did you get an AR?" was one of his questions.

Normally, I love to talk about firearms with people and the guy seemed friendly -- but all I could think was what a great little setup this was for a robbery. I simply said "No, something else" and made a beeline for my truck, keeping an eye on the two of them.

The two guys talked for a moment and then headed into the store. I imagine they were discussing how rude I was. I feel like I overreacted - but then there are stories like this one at WalMart that make me think otherwise.

Hope they catch this scumbag and recover the victim's rifle.

Ol' Ross Perot addressed this calling them "chicken pickin jobs !!!"

I work in manufacturing... machining actually and Ill guarentee the warehouse/ shipping/ supply chain jobs do not pay as well or have the benefits that were lost with those manufacturing jobs.... but its a throw away world, buy it cheap sell it cheap.

I hate when even the state of Indiana boasts about creating 50 new warehouse jobs when factories close up and take 1500+ good paying/ great benefit jobs with them.

Back on topic, I never liked Wmarts policy of escorting you to the door with your firearm purchase, this is a clear indicator to these badguys that just lay in wait...

Big R escorts you to the front of the store both with firearms and with ammo.

Seems folks always like to bash the big guy, whether it be W/M or The NRA, or who ever.

I worked at Galyans years ago, that was also the policy there.
The theory behind it is, so that you cannot load up your new gun and rob or shoot up the place. I don't know why they think that you would not load up in the parking lot and come back in, if your a bad guy.
But that is why the policy is in place.

Wal-Mart used to buy US made products and heavily promoted that fact. As more competitors cut custs by carrying products at lower cost (made in China or overseas), the competition FORCED WM to adapt. It was NOT the choice of WM.

Regardless, every shopper at WM saves money, making it a win-win. Even small mom and pop storeowners shop there... as they go out of business.. knowing the only way to stay in business is for some "economic protection" by Big Brother... and that ain't the American Way.
