What consumable goods do you feel are needed for SHFT? List them to help me with a project idea. Think paper, soap, first aid, etc. Nothing related to food, firearms or durable supplies.

I might be able to get them sourced at one place at near wholesale. Think cheaper than Sam's.

    My input is:

    toilet Paper
    paper towels
    paper goods in general
    trash bags
    bulk first aid supplies
    rubber gloves
    soap

    help me out!

    Scrounging brass
    "Feminine" supplies.

But our ancestors made do without any of those consumable supplies back in the day. They used hot water and cloth for much of what we use paper for now. Old rags and a hot water source could substitute. Though toilet paper is more sanitary in unsettled situations.

Booze, I'd barter my first born if i were getting low :D
Actually that's a good Idea, even if you don't consume Adult beverages. In the long term it will be a great barter Item. Might keep you from have to trade something more valuable to you. Cause I'll bet in New O liquor stores were first to be raided. So alcohol would probably be in short supply. And the Idiots that aren't thinking long term or waiting for the government to save them, would be easy to barter with for Booze. Plus in an EOTWAWKI situation traveling Scavengers selling and or trading things will probably trade more for booze cause it may be more valuable than gold in certain situations.

    All the regular stuff like:

    soap
    toothpast
    toothbrushes and floss
    detergent
    paper towels
    toilet paper
    feminine stuff
    baby wipes
    1st aid/boo boo stuff
    deodorant
    shaving stuff-cream/soap/blades
manual clippers and scissors for haircuts
Cleaning supplies-bleach and or pool shock, ammonia, vineger, brooms, mops, towels and rags, sponges, rubbing alcohol, borax, baking soda etc.

But then think of post SHTF stuff

Vector control-as someone posted, bug spray (to include RID, lice control)
but also rodent poison and better yet-traps, because then you can eat them.
    Long term waste managment, so:
5 gallon buckets with a toilet seat, bags, RV toilet tank deoderizer/enzymes etc.
    A burn barrel.

    Here and There
    good ol' fashioned #2 pencils
loose-leaf (filler) paper, ruled (comes in plastic pkgs)
    blank printer paper
    those big pink erasers
    normal letter sized envelopes

Folks might need to rediscover the art of written correspondence, and having those items might make you some profit when that happens.

Here's somthing that I don't think I've ever seen on anyone's SHTF list. But I saw it on Best Defense Survival, A really good Air rifle, and ammo for pest control. Because as services break down like trash collection, your going to have to control rodents and such. Pellets are cheaper that .22 and quieter if you don't own a suppressor. You won't be calling attention to yourself while popping the little critters.

    For what type of scenerio?

For TEOTWAWKI situations or any type of bug out, you need to think compact and small. If it's not absolutely essential ditch it. I'm looking at some of these lists and wondering how I would get people into my Durango after packing all of it.

I think of the mountainmen of the 1850's as my SHTF inspiration. They carried what they could on two mules.
